Improved Harry Potter Quotes
My family are HUGE fans of the Harry Potter series of books and movies. J.K Rowling has created a rich and elaborate world and mythology for a new generation. The other day I was looking for quotes to share from the series, on the eve of the new book for the play “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” launching. Here is the thing: there are hardly any great quotes from the world of Harry Potter.
Of course there are a some gems.
“Mischief managed.”
“I solemnly swear I am up to no good.”
“There will be a time when we must choose between what is easy and what is right.”
“The ones that love us never really leave us.”
“Fear of a name only increases fear of the thing itself.”
There are popular quotes like Albus Dumbledore saying “Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.” Huh? What does that even mean? If I turn on a light it won’t be dark anymore. So yeah, the darkest of times still suck.
But out of 20 hours of film, and thousands of pages of books, is that all there is?
In Gryffindor spirit, I will bravely solve the problem, rather than merely complain about it. Harry Potter needs some great, memorable, quotable quotes. A hammy comedy like Caddyshack has about a hundred great lines. That hack Shakespeare gets quoted all the time. J.K Rowling needs some help, and I am here to lend it.
To that end, I took some of the greatest lines in film and literature and applied them to scenes from Harry Potter. Harry isn’t in Kansas anymore!
